When we got back from our trip through Africa one of the things that stood out was the number of people we met who had either come to places like tanzania, malawi or moz from South America, had just backpacked through South America or were on their way there.. now there is a difference between backpacking and riding a bike, but never the less the idea has been planted and from what we hear it is breathtaking.
So the research begins on the 2012 South America tour.
Starting at the beginning is daunting, we have to look at which countries, how far, how many days.. weather conditions.. do we ship our own bikes, do we buy one there.. rentals are too expensive and guided tours are for grannies.. i am looking for anyone who has had any experiences riding through South America so that I can start to compile information and start planning. Please try to be as specific as possible on the experiences.
