Time out in Namibia

Had lunch in Walvis , lunch was good but cant say I enjoyed Walvis . Then headed on to Swakop .
First stop the camels
Then looked for a place to sleep the night as I wanted to hit the Skeleton coast the next day

Found a Backpackers in Swakop and spent the night . Went to the beach front and ate oysters again , not as nice as Luderitz and more expensive .
Cant remember the name of the backpackers . It was OK . Wanted to get into the open again and got an early start on to the salt road .

I was told at the entrance gate of the reserve (Skeleton Coast reserve) that Torra Bay was closed . I thought it was a town.....Now I have fuel problems I have to ride at 60 kph again heading for Khorixas.

My fuel showed that I had 150 km to go , so I had to go very sloly

Sjoe, die RR maak my regtig lus om te gaan pak, dit bly maar net lekker daar,

Toe ek die foto sien waar jy gestop het tussen Maltahohe en Sesriem toe verlang ek raak my lus eers erg,

Hier is jou foto en een van my net van 'n ander hoek maar dit is dieselfde plek, ek het hier omtrent vyf sigarete gesit en rook en net die mooi bewonder, baie mooi en lekker stukkie pad om te ry,  :thumleft:

At last I got out of the Skeleton coast reserve , not sure that I would go back . I saw 3 other vehicles the time while I was there . If something goes wrong there you have a problem .
Heading east again the vegetation was looking a lot better and I think the locals there are Damaras , friendly people . Any way it was getting dark I had not found a place to sleep and my fuel is low .
I saw a sign that said lodge , so I took the road about 5 km . Fancy place on a koppie they wanted 1700 nam dollar for a bed alone . I declined and a very friendly reception lady punched another camp run by locals into my GPS . 70 nam dollar  more my style and they made me supper for 70 bucks but still no fuel . Very rustic with a chance of desert elephants walking over while you sleep .

Jy het my toestemming nodig om op my spot te kamp by Aba Huab.  :deal:  :lol8:

Dis een van my gunsteling kampplekke.  Ons het al sewe keer oor 'n klompie jare daar oorgebly.  Ons was ook een aand gelukkig toe loop die olifante so 30 meter verby ons kamp en vreet aan die bome.  Great spot daai.

Petrified forest The guide told this tree was 185 million years old an it came from Zambia in a flood ... not sure where he got his facts from but
anyway I am not so sure.
I made Khorixas with my fuel showing 10km to go . I will always fill up from now on .
Had coffee at the lodge in Khorixas and then headed for Kamanjab .
I had no plan , so when I woke in the morning I would just ride.
But I was starting to miss my dogs and my wife so I was starting of thinking of turning around and heading home .

Arrived in Kamanjab had some bread and biltong for lunch in the shade.
Saw the first group of Himba people
Heading east I found a camp near a Himba village and a house that was used as a movie set by a French film crew and you could stay in the house . I was not booked so I MOVED AND HAD THE WHOLE HOUSE TO MYSELF.
