Toyota 1000 Desert Race

The Toyota 1000 Desert Race is the premier off-road racing event held in Southern Africa. The race takes place in Botswana and a different course is laid out each year.

From what I've heard it's a 3 day race - day 1 is a sort of prologue for seeding (optional), day 2 and 3 are 500km each (out on day 1, in on day 2). Unlike the Baja 1000 (which is 1000 miles not km) the Toyota 1000 is not run in "relay" - every man for himself.

Anyone here done it or have more info? Looks interesting, but it's hard to find info on the web...
