Tracks for Africa - I don't get it

So, what makes Tracks for Africa special, and what does one use it for?
I recently bought a Garmin Montana 650 and use it in my everyday drive to get used to it. T4A is loaded, but it is pretty useless in city driving.
I bought T4A 5 years ago, but have not bothered to install till now.

What is the value of T4A, and how does one use it best?
