You can see why we had to brave up and leave!
We were starting to hear Banjo music and the cries of "squeal like a pig!" (Deliverance!)

Sadly we had to cut the trip short  :'(
There was just no way down to the Transkei without massive detours and the huge trip back for
both groups!

We decided to head for Aliwal North via Lady Grey on an absolutely ball freezing ride!
We parted our ways the following morning, the Cape group heading for PE and Jhb boys headed home
on route decided to detour back through Lesotho via Mohales Hoek with much adventure had by all!

The Cape boys had a blast riding around PE beach road tearing up the strip as one obviously does when
you are a KTM race ready open piped riding god who now has the thousand yard stare....guilty as charged your honour!
yip I AM A TWAT!  ;) ;D ;)

It was a long haul back to Cape Town but we decided to blast through as the Saturday more hectic weather was
predicted to be coming through!
We were glad we did as sitting in my lounge on Saturday watching the Kreepy Krauly climb out my pool as it was flooding
I realised we had made a wise decision!

In summary.....

We had in four actual riding days more technical, more vistas, more scenery, more snow, more mud, more cold, more lags,
more cameraderie, more skriks, more OBS and more memories than we could of had in a month of riding!
Damn, what a trip with a great bunch of mates and for me to be lucky enough to have my 68 year old Dad along on a bike for some of the trip.......... well I am truely blessed!

Sadly now back to the mundane task of slog, Jhb travel, airports, spreadsheets and revised budgets!

But I have the memories  :mwink:

Cheers

Mambat

Just a couple of incidental pics....

Just a wake up call to us who trust Garmen. This was a road that peated away to nothing and not the last one. Note to self: Hard copy map essential.
Some of the guys where keen to push through and we got all the guys through this little section and send Si and Pandtjie to furthe more explore the way forward. Apon there return and the Truimph lying on its side with ionlyfell4times Gregg  :pot: under it ,we decided to turn arround ::)

Oh and yes that was the rear of a GS that broke off due to overloading topbox. Italian loafers and smoking jackets :lol8:

Once we got the bikes going we got to a snotty or rather a rutted snotty section. The word Battle / Struggle of Normandie comes to mind. The pretty one ,Willie Was so admiring his Garmen that when he looked up he was to far in a rut full of melted snow and mud. At standstill you could not ride out. wesome ;D Well before you could say" jou sissie se vissie" % bikes where down. :eek7: Pretty one , then Skilpad saw stars (in Daytime) Duikrol blessed us, and 200m back the SeaK4 was signalling to gather troops to hoist the GS that did a spectacular pirouette over 15m. Now facing the same direction we came from. tipical Italians :pot:

Seams like he's developed a habit of dropping things off the back of that bike

Like loosing his camelpack on Ouberg :3some:

Now that its all over this is what we are left to do. From Skilpad.

I have found the following helps me cope with the withdrawal symptoms during office hours:·         I set my aircon at -3 degrees·         Wear my Leatt brace to all meetings·         Go to the toilet every 30 minutes to take a big swig of OBS·         At least twice a day drop the really heavy photo copier on its side and try and pick it up alone After hours I’ve been focussing on eating food that is way past its expiry date, but most evening just cry myself to sleep! Try the above and tell me if it helps dull the pain!

Till next time fellow ADV riders

Don't the Katooms look oh so pretty!

Uhmmmm yea, makes one just want to wear a Tiara.  :laughing4:

I'm sure that the town of Rhodes were more thankful for that break in weather than you guys were, best sound they ever heard was the sound of all those bikes pulling out of their town :pot:
