The day had arrived – wet – but at last here.
To leave.

Took the short cut via Coega  Hotel road construction and had a few hairy moments in the wet clay construction site road.

Met Duncan at Colchester.  This was to be a tar ride up to Sterkspruit as he was on a R.T..
A stop at a stall on the way up for full breakfast @ R25.00 with coffee!

Up Nico Malan Pass and then to Cathcart on wet tar.  We seem to just miss the rain.
A visit to Bongolo Dam in Queenstown.
DSC07035.jpg

It was quite low.
DSC07037.jpg

Some sandstone type rock you could just pull out.

Accommodation by Disselboom for us travelers.  Once again the hospitality was greatly appreciated.

Wet and cold in Dordrecht. Some giant potholes doged on the road to this town from Queenstown.

Some local animals checking out the main road in Indwe.

We breezed through Elliot and had a pitstop in the mountain passes.

There was lunch to be had at the Lady Grey Hotel and man, did that lamb shank taste good!

Looking out to the Joubert Pass that I will do next time out.

More mountains
DSC07128.jpg

At this point had seen nobody on dirt bikes in the two days of the pass rides.  On the way down Naude’s Nek, I met a couple on an identical bike as mine going to sleep over at the Hotel on top of Naude’s.

Came out at Maclear and then hightailed back via some excellent tar roads via Maclear, Ugie, Elliot, Barkly East and Lady Grey.  Good high speed corners!
Spent the next day chilling and watching TV, as it rained and the dirt is wet clay and I was on my own.
Duncan and I did a cannon ball run back home.  Also met a couple in Cradock, a guy on a GS 1200 and a lady on a 650 Dakar.  They were on their way back to Pretoria via a few more stops.

Some ladies a bit distracted.

Picked up an oil leak on the diff seal.   Thank goodness for warranty!

To round it up.  A great ride, great company, will do it again as there is more dirt in that area to ride.
Next ride is Katse dam over 4 days / 3 nights…..hmmmm…
