We take Hoofseuns trip and head out via the Tonteldoos to Elandskrantz

As it would happen Hoofseun organises a one nite stand to Elandskrantz (Bungalow/Camp spot just above Waterval Boven) with a few souls. So we all make the arrangements and decide to leave from various points.....unfortunately on 11th hr something came up for the Hoof again so he couldn’t make it....anyway we had it in our plan to go riding so Skati ,me and Turtle headed off in Loskop direction to do a nice loop from Pretoria via Tonteldoos/Lydenburg/Sodwala Caves and then Waterval Boven to meet up with the rest of the folks
The weather forecast said, good weather, after all the rain we were having ,so I was optimistic that we wouldn’t hit too much mud(ja sure)I should have known better….
Just out from Bronkhorstspruit we stopped at General Hertzog family graves to pay our respect and  show Turtle as he was new to this area

Small word when you out biking the country side for the weekend you see other nice people having a good time.....
People we met on the ride

On to Loskop

We then headed off in search of more gravel in the direction towards Dullstroom......it was fairly dry and a nice hot day to be enjoying DS riding
Chilling out en route Tonteldoos

At the sign to Tonteldoos

The best surprise of our trip was meeting Daphne at the cute little restaurant in Tonteldoos which used to be a General dealer and has been a registered business since 1914....we had a brilliant breakfast/lunch and Daphne’s hospitality was amazing.....I highly recommend a visit here

A true surprise to see this place in the middle of no where

After the meal and relaxing a bit we hit the road to Lydenburg.......mmmmm it’s got a new name now and all signs read Mashishing....... Very confusing to say the least...since I was last in the area
Lydenburg or now Mashishing
lydenburgnewname.jpg

In Lydenburg /Mashishing......u turn right towards Machadadorp then immediately left on the gravel and follow the signs to Nelspruit and you go over the pass on the right of Long Tom through the forest road it is amazing and worth the ride....we took this option
On the top of the mountain we rode into clouds

Sorry we had to miss out on this one  :-[  !!!  Looks like you guys had a wonderful time.

Shame Mother – hope you feeling a little better today, those falls, big or small, takes their toll!

One nighters are always great fun – we got away a little later than planned the Sat so we missed out on riding via Tonteldoos with Mother & kie and also cause eSKaPe wasted his whole morning waiting for someone to deliver side bags, and he never pitched?!  Anyways…

So myself, Sunflower and WE2 made our way slowly via Cullinan where we later met up with eSKaPe and headed to Waterval –Boven via some dirt roads – we were very lucky to have missed a huge storm just before Waterval-Boven with hail the size of golf balls! But we were glad to finally be there as it was rather chilly after the storm. We then enjoyed a lovely meal, red wine and good company.

Sunday morning we had a little test of endurance with that stretch of mud – but it made for a fun start  :D

The breakfast spot just before Badplaas was very tranquil and a nice setting, although I must admit the food could have been better IMO…

Some cars on display at the bfast spot... This would have been better in the mud maybe?!  ;)

We then headed for the road home and got back to JHB just after 4.

Thanks all for a nice weekend. We have been planning a trip with Sunflower for ages as she had enough of only reading the RR but wanted to experience one and it set the tone for many more!

Nice one!  :thumleft:
Did Sunny have her own bike or did someone pillion her?

Would like to say I was on my own bike....or maybe not (did u see that mud!!)....a huge thanks to werf etter2, for putting up with me as a pillion and being so kind to not mind all my moaning  ;)

and for getting me home in 1 piece!

Was great fun, as always nice to meet some of the faces behind the avatars  :)

Nice one Mother & Kie.

Glad you and Skati Ok after the off. If there was no separation, it was theoretically not a fall.

I see Werfetter up to his old tricks again  :thumleft:

Well done.

When I look at the mud, I'm glad I missed this one - I still riding mud with the Black Dragon on my shoulder  ???

Looks like it was an awesome ride....Liefie and I saw you guys (Mother and Co) at Middleburg when you were filling up....saw the mud on yr new suit and on the bike....was kinda glad that we had opted for an all tar affair for the weekend and had taken the ICBM (read K1300GT) to Hazyview for a most pleasant improptu 1 nighter. If I had known you were "dogs" I would have come over instead of just casually greeting you guys.
Must recommend the Pioneer Butcher and Grill in Hazyview for a fine fine steak....oh and some decent red wine as well.

Lekka ride all.

Looks like YELLOW is in now my bike aptly called SUNSHINE

Thanks for shareing. :thumleft:Great area.
I hate mud and funny enough just when I thought the anti traction control was a waste it saved me from a few slides in the Knysna forest with rain belting down the other day. :-\

another view of our fall.....besides bent finger being tender.....ready to roll for a new trip :thumleft:
