Ons praat net vandag daaroor. Amazing dat ons na al die jare nog so amazing roete 30 km van die huis af kan “ontdek”. Hier is genoeg ryplek om mens n leeftyd besig te hou!

Whole ride was awesome gravel and mellow riding. Such a great day out.
Got caught out here though. Right at the bottom of the pass, which was a bit tricky, with lots of loose rock and significant deep erosion, it was more than a little treacherous.

I was easing my way down but as I came round that bend the deep ruts went down to the bottom and crossed the road in front of me with absolutely no way out, so put the bike down to contemplate the mess I had just gotten myself and the bike behind me into :-[
My mate on a GS1200 was still higher up so was able to stop him before he got to this point.

The mission was there was a single concrete slab about 3x width of a bike tyre laid across the start of the rut to get onto the other side.
Hard work, got the GS across and down inch by inch with a big potential drop off into the donga, touch and go. Then my bike I had to turn round and get higher as I had past the little concrete slab, rinse and repeat as with the GS.

It was also about 40DegC in the shade. We live and learn

We also went down something similar in the valley a few weeks ago. Guy on a plastic led us down there after assuring us it was fine. thought it was funny. Was on my KLR and the brakes boiled before we got down
