Hi,

Just wondering if I could get some ideas from people that have ATs.

I have always had a horn for these bikes, and now I am in a position to buy one. I live in Dubai and they are not very common.

I have found two for sale, which have been imported from Japan (alledgedy).

The first is a 1990 RD04, with 36,231km on the clock. No trip meter, includes centre stand:

Second bike is a 1998 RD07A, with 32,678km on the clock. Includes trip meter, no centre stand, and looks like an aftermarket 'MICRON' slip on.

The RD04 is 13,000 AED (approx 24,500 Rand) and the RD07A is 17,500 AED (approx 32,800 Rand).

They both have minor cosmetic damage, I would be intending to strip the bike down and give it a good tidy up. Obviously buying the older bike would leave some spare change in my pocket to help with the refurb. Also from what I can gather from the net, the RD04 was a stronger bike. Please correct me if this is not the case.

Also, I am not sure if the relatively low mileage on these bikes would be commensurate with the amount of wear on the foot pegs, grips, etc. Although at this age, I would expect the rubber items to be fairly perished anyway.

Thanks in advance for any advice rendered. The intended use would be for mostly weekend trips to Wadis, which are local dry riverbeds.

Cheers,

Mick
