Day 2 - Bubye to Chishakwe

I wake up in the early hours of the morning with a pounding headache. It is pouring outside - not what you want to hear when there is 340km of offroad riding to be done after breakfast. I take some pain tablets and fall in and out of sleep, the rain on the thatch roof a constant. We eventually wake up to a light drizzle, giving me hope that all will be well on the ride :devilish:

We head to “town” for our first and most expensive refuel of the trip.

Mark and I put $200 each into a fuel a kitty and paid everything from the kitty. When depleted, we just topped it up again. This made fuelling and other purchases much quicker. Most fuel stations only have 1 pump that works, if you're lucky 2. Fuel stops could easily take 30 minutes to complete.

It is starts to drizzle again as we head off on tar and encounter our first of many roadblocks. We are waved through, as we were with every other roadblock on this trip.

We stop for toilet break as we hit dirt
