The digitiser on my Zumo 550 has failed.  I can get a replacement from Hong Kong for $30 (R225).  The DHL courier charge is also $30.  Expensive but OK.  The problem is DHL has a bad reputation for charging a fortune for the customs & VAT administration so the R225 DHL charge may be R700 just for the parasite fees they add for the customs & VAT.

I don't understand why it can't simply be posted to me.  I asked a friend whose business has an office in HK if they could buy the thing & post it to me.  Some days later they too come back saying DHL is the only practical way.  As I say I don't know what the problem is but that is 2 parties who both say DHL is my only option.

Anybody here who can help or advise?

Has anyone had this problem sorted out by Avnic?
