Interesting old tugboats those with their triple expansion steam engines. Makes me feel moer old, we did time on those during our apprenticeship!

How was coal fed into the boilers? Shovel or how? Seawater was used I guess?

My memory fails me....but :
Coal feed....I cannot recall the likes of any hoppers/conveyors etc. Plus, space was at a minimum so I am almost certain it was shoveled in like on a locomotive.
Sea water? No, I don't think so. Bigger vessels had evaporators for fresh/non-saline water produced from the sea water, but these were not exactly designed for harbour use only.

Closed loop system using fresh water with sea water cooling in the condensers. Asked my mate from way back then.
