Pack Dog
My brother and I went for our first ride together. The friday before was extreamly hectic with setting up a public viewing area for the WC soccer and I only arrived home 5 AM on the saterday, our departure time was 10 AM, needless to say I was still a bit groggy...
We decided to take gravel from Potchefstroom to Parys and ride the tar back to be in time for the Boks game against the French (2 PM).
I was on the 1150 and my Brother (krister) was on the 1200.
The route we followed:
After the initial tar stretch we stopped and discussed the basic riding manners we will follow on the gravel
1. If you want to ride faster or slower no problem, no need to wait or try and keep up we will meet later on.
2. If the road width permits we will ride next to each other
the gravel starts...
After buying some nice cold drinks at the venterskroon 'mall' we drive to a lekker secluded spot and talk about the ride so var. We discussed the few almost tumbles we both had (wheelspin, rearwheel locking, sand etc...). Krister checks the time and notices we should have been back already, thus we will have to cut our ride short (Damn)
A pic taken with Krister's helmet cam:
We take a shortcut to the tar surface and head back home, I was looking forward to the more technical bit of gravel ahead, but that will have to wait for our next ride together.
We arrive at my home:
We just can't help but notice how nice the 2 BMWs looks next to each other...
We ended up talking about the ride and not even watching the game...
The Potch and Parys area has a lot of nice gravel trails! And I will be exploring all of them!
PS. The 1150 and 1200 is a lot more off-road capable than I expected, it feels similar to my XT500 of years back. (probably because I was a lot smaller back then.)
