800GS cutting out when gearing down

Had this intermittent problem since I bought the bike. When gearing down, getting to 2nd or 1st, it just die. Starts again immediately. No pattern (except for the gearing down), some rides it happens, others not. Never happened down to Doornkloof, once or twice on my Saturday ride, but boy, getting back in the city on Sunday it died at every third traffic light.
The bike was at Bavarian, they rode it for 50km without issues.

Any ideas on why?
