The mistake on the roadbook that many thought was the end of SS 2 is clearly just a checkpoint, however the roadbook did show a trun to the right whilst in reality you had to go straight. We all ran down that road for about 5 km and then turned around and ran flattaps to get back on route, I suspect this is were many of the speed penalty's came from.

It seems I missed 44 waypoints which added 13 hrs to my time?

Its a mystery to me how thats possible seeing as I definitely didnt get lost and followed the course on both days?

But its not really important.

I definitely didn't miss 64 waypoints and all the guys from 39 to 51 have exactly the same time ???

On day 2 our GPS's weren't collected after the stage, but I mailed Alex my track when I got home anyway.

Like Mof said, some room for organisational improvement.

Still had a blast though.

I still smile when I think back how Mr Webb passed me during the special in day 2:

It was in a tight corner (on a public road) - and he came flying past me, in that corner.  

On his back wheel.  

Any ego problems that I may have had up until then is therefore now finally solved. Thanks.

Once again well done to everyone who did well  :thumleft: :thumleft:

But I admit I am mystified how someone like Alan B who rode the same course as us , and by all accounts did not speed, got almost 13 hours penalties? And others like 2 Stroke Dan , Remy , Sack , Roost each got 16 hours in penalties ?  Surely we all rode on one track ?, how is is possible to miss so many way points ?  Two / three misses yes , but to get to 16 hours in penalties ?

And Lukas and I rode together , arriving the same time on Day One (he left max 15 min after me in the am ) and Day Two we left and rode together the whole day , but I waited for oil and finished the special an hour after him , yet his actual time is 6 hours quicker than me ? Unless they gave bonus points for assisting ? I got penalties for obtaining oil from a non -entrant etc , so not so worried about my own times, but just looking at the whole picture it is not so clear. Makes it a tad difficult to prepare for next year if you don't know what to look out for ?

And this proves conclusively that speed is not the only factor , but in fact can count against one .

Fendie, Dabbelou se GPS het binne die eerste halfuur van Dag 1 afgebliksem en weggeraak. Rolling Stone sin het ook probleme gegee. Myne het gewerk. Dabbelou en RS moet dus teoreties dieselfde plek as ek beklee want ons het heeltyd saamgery.

Nietemin maak ek goed van die geleentheid gebruik om Dabbelou goed oor die uitslae te rev!  :imaposer:

Yes I suspect the guys on the first list ( Tau's post) from numbers 39 to 52 had GPS issues : losing them ,not reading correctly etc , then it makes more sense .  :thumleft:

Good thing to make sure about GPS for next year , and yes it was a great event  :drif: :drif: , best ever , why do you think we are all hanging aroud on this thread drooling? . :imaposer: :imaposer: :imaposer:
