regarding permits I have always been a sticky one on that , I am a believer that if we want to preserve this area as a place where we can ride for us and our kids we should get permits, like a TV licence, it is the right thing to do..

That being said, I also believe that permits should be accessable and easy to obtain, last time I went to go get a permit I had to wait 25min for the person to come back from tea or whatever they were doing, then I got sent away to go and find change because they only take the EXACT amount only to find out that I need the reg papers ... so it was a pain because getting the permit took 2 hours.

I am planning on doing a lot of sand training to get fit so I am going to pick up an annual permit so I don't have to go back and forth.

You can get the permits in Atlantis with very little fuss.  If you regular Atlantis Dunes, its worth it getting a yearly permit. My issue is that if you have more than one bike, you need multiple permits.

I have been using an annual permit for years because I go often - only way to go.  Unrestricted access any day of the week, 7am  to 7pm (summer) and 8 to 5pm (winter), and multiple entries in one day if that is required.  As far as the daily  permits go, getting one in ATLANTIS township, opposite the police station, is quick and easy - just one catch - office hours only, and you have to pic it up "in body". It is valid for one entry and validity covers effectively 2 weekends and may be vehicle specific, not sure.

The issue of multiple annual permits for more than one bike is a bit of a slepppp - and no real resolve forthcoming from the city - man, you want to see red tape, this is it!  In my case this is not an issue - I have my tow vehicle registered on the permit, and take anything I like for the day (bikes or quad) on my trailer, even if the bike is road registered.  Anyway, I get the feeling that as long as your permit matches the vehicle "type" you are taking in, the registration nr is not that much of an issue, as long as the number of permits match the body count.  Guys can comment on this if they experienced different!  Maybe my face is already known by the boom operator and he does not hazzle me. Never pitched at the gate on my road legal bike with my tow-vehicle permit - so don't know if I will be turned away.  Remember 10 visits a year and you have paid up the annual permit - with one time fuss to get it.

Don't bribe guys - just one more reason that can jeopardize our access - especially if we think it is CITCC bulkwater's problem to fix.  As far as I understand it - no permits available at the gate.

Hope this helps!
