BMW GS2 Boots - Good for touring? AND if they can be found cheap?

I have an opportunity to get a pair of BMW GS2 boots for the low low price of only...

R1700!!  Brand spanking new!

I am very tempted, but have read they're not waterproof...

I do like the protection they can offer and they look the business!

Any comments to make up my mind will be appreciated.
