Here we had a quick debate, were we going to take the easy option and go back via the border post and Ramatselitso Pass, or back down the steep rocky pass the way we had come?

Outthere then remembered that he had left his jacket half way up the pass hidden in the bush, as he had taken it off when he had started over-heating on the way up. So our minds were made up for us.

And I'm really glad we had to go back down, it was just as awesome as on the way up  :biggrin:

The rest of the ride went as planned, got back to the car at about 15h00 that afternoon, which meant about 6hours spent in the saddle. My stiff body the next day reminded me that my riding fitness is severely lacking

If you not vertically challenged you will do it on the 950! I love to push the envelope and get the 990 up and down that sort of terrain, gives me a great feeling of accomplishment.....................................along with a few cramps and a few new aches here and there! ;D

Funny you should mention it, my XR was idling 100% at the start of the trip, then at the top it wasn't idling properly and was stalling, back at the bottom it was fine again.

That looks hard but lekker! Thank for the pics and report. My KTM450 is jetted for sea level as well, but has the same symptoms when I get up above 2,000m on a ride.

He takes horse rides up to Sehlabathebe, but he goes up Bushman's neck.
