Andy 660 and his wife did a really great job with Amber , we have seen her grow up before our eyes and she has turned into a lovely young girl- women , all of 12 years old.  Andy spent such good quality time with her this weekend keeping her safe ,happy and protected, what a great dad thing to do and what a pleasure for Amber to be able to ride like that with her father .  :3some:

Here she was playing with a locust who doesn't smell too great , the poor dog ran away trying to bite at it .  :imaposer: ( and some real Wilddogs too  :imaposer: )

And off they ride , fully kitted to go and rescue flat tyres along the way .  :thumleft:

So Saturday evening , a beautiful balmy evening , we had such a lekker kuier under the trees , tummies filled with Chantal's treats , relaxing and looking forward to an early night when Kamanya came to invite me to go ride to the caves with Rudi- them . What a choice, stay and chat and chill or to get up and out of my comfy T and skirt and bare feet and to hunt for my dirty riding gear in my dark disorganized tent to go ride some dusty dirt roads in the dark to go to walk in heavy clumpy riding boots to go see some dark dank caves with people I don't know  .  What a choice , the riding won of course .  :imaposer:

It ended up being one of the best parts of the weekend . :ricky:

I had not been to the caves before and the "200 meters down the road" ended up being a 5km ride including some twee spoor track and the climb to the caves quite a walk , all under the dark moonless sky . It was fabulous , quite surreal . Other than Rudi and Kamanya,  I had not met any of the others before so had to meet while riding and walking . What a great experience . Lovely really , to experience that wide and wild stillness under the expansive sky and seeing the stars bursting with light  . To get in touch with our inner Boesman and wonder how it would have been to live here in times of yonder....

Oops I need a flash for photos .

Sure sounds like you guys had a great time out there by those caves @ "Traaitjieskraal Caves".

Lovely 2-spoor roads out there & really awesome caves, hikes & views.  :thumleft: :thumleft:

Thanks Rynet for sharing all your great photos with us.

More legends : Zanie and Ilse  (Boskind 27 ) and their partners , Lance on a KTM, who belongs to Zanie   and Gehard on a Sherco who belongs to Ilse    :ricky:

If you haven't read Zanie's Ride Reports yet , do so , you are in for a treat  .  :thumleft:

some of them ( there are more ! ) :

I enjoy them because Zanie takes such care in her RR's to show the preparations, show the route on google map , describes the feelings and their boyfriends keep taking them to such tough routes and most of all their excitement and exuberance and the fast learning curve they experienced , while having such fun too. And of course loads of great photos .  :ricky:

Zanie still nursing a broken foot on this trip but still bravely going at it  :thumleft:

back at the bikes , oops the flash  :lol8:

What is a ride if nothing goes wrong  >:D

Gerhard's bike had a short or something and Kamanya came to the rescue , towing him till he started . :thumleft:

Zanie lending Gerhard her riding jacket as yes none of us were properly kitted, which felt naughty but nice .  :ricky:

Oh and as for Jethro's 990 with the gorgeous skulls and roses , wish I could have seen her in daylight  :drif:  :drif:

Thanks for the promo Rynet! I felt like I was meeting a legend myself. A lady who handles a big bike like a dirt bike. Hectic.

Yes, thanks to that break more than 2 years ago that I'm still sitting with foot issues. I think my physio is starting to despair. My Achilles tendon is a bit stiffer on that side, which probably caused the ligament band on the arch of my foot (plantar fascia) to go into complete spasm. That song about a one bone connecting to another seems to apply... Pull something here, and something else will go into overdrive there. Apparently it can take months to heal. Sigh.

The night ride was really great. I'm glad I went, but the walk was a bit heavy-going, given 4kg of boots and the uncooperative foot. It felt a bit eerie walking back to the bikes with just Lance, especially when he reminded me of the leopards. At least they're awfully shy. We ended up getting back to the bikes just before the rest of you guys; I was tramping along that slowly.

I think some oil clogged in Lance's bike somewhere. Two-strokes are meant to be ridden harder. Apparently trundling along at our speed didn't burn off the oil. He got tow-started quick enough and ended up chasing Kamanya back to Oasis. He had to keep up by hook or crook, given that he didn't have a headlight.

FYI: Zelda = Ilse, Gerhard = Lance and vice versa. Names are also my weak point. That's why it's great writing ride reports of just our usual four. Otherwise I keep having to ask Lance: "Who was that?" It's enough trouble just trying to make head or tail of where we rode (my sense of direction is also abysmal).

A big shout-out and thanks to Gerrit and Chantal. The food was great and the beds in the permanent tents absolutely heavenly.

Rynet , Many thanks for all the awesome photo`s.
And Thank you for the kind words regarding Amber , but yes ,  she has turned out quite the little lady , and still only 12 yrs old.
Fortunately , she just loves riding bike with dad, even had me make a sticker for her helmet , Amber 660..
Rynet , so glad you took all the pics and remembered all the names too.
Something to look  back on one day when we get old , "older" lol

Lance was the one on the KTM, Gerhard was on the Sherco.

Thank you Whitedelight , you are now my editor-in-chief on this thread. For a quiet guy you are sure good with knowing WD's 's names and where they fit in . :thumleft:

Will go and change the boyfriends around with the right girls .
