Could not wait for too long for the dirt to dry out so from Marquard decided to take the stofpad again and see what it would be like after the heavy rains
I went to school here in Ficksburg in 1982 and was in the Technical School and so wanted to spend some time in good old Ficksburg where again i have some great memories
Ficksburg is very well known as the cherry country of South Africa and has always had the Cherry festival which was always held here at the old Show grounds. Seems it is still alive but nowadays it is being held outside of town on someone's farm
And of top of that so has the Drive In. All i could find of the drive in where we used to go and watch movies by bicycle 1st and eventually by car (Not stolen eventually) was the below what i suspect was the cement plinths of where the screen was mounted on those days
Eish like i said we 1stly used to trapfiets to the Drive in and then sit in the little roofed pavilion settup where ur girlfriend were hopefully allowed to come and sit with you if her dad was ok with it . . . Later when we had a car (Sometimes with permission) i would not have allowed any daughter of mine to join if i was a father . . .
So after some lekker/sad reminiscing in Ficksburg it was time to start heading home so from here it was off to Clarens with the compulsory stop at the "Plaasstoep" in Fouriesburg
The next day was the 1st of April and my brother was on his way from Meyerton to join me. Woke up to a very cold and misty Clarens on the 1st of April 2023
