Sal def volgende jaar weer daar wees.

Seeing as Dux set the scene, I’ll just add my 2c to it.

At the rest point at roughly the halfway mark we linked up with a few of my Droomers team mates who informed me that two of our riders went down earlier when they missed a 90deg right hander while doing big speed. It was a reminder that although we were out there having fun, you still need to treat these bikes and the track with a whole lot of respect. Complacency has a tendency to hurt  :(

I decided to ditch Dux and co for the remainder of the lap and joined my teammates to run some race pace in preparation for this weekend’s Baja. Well, that idea lasted all of 1km when Wayne roosted me so badly in a bog hole that I had to stop and remove my goggles to clean them  :dousing: I was covered in mud from head to toe and my bike had wads of grass draped over the front mudguard  :imaposer:

Needless to say, try as I may I couldn’t catch them before the end of the lap so I just focussed on keeping it smooth and working on my cornering skills.

Before I knew it the farm was in sight and the ride over… double drat  :( While standing around having a good chuckle about the fun we were having out there, GJ and his laaitie Rensie came blasting through after their 2nd lap from the halfway mark. They still looked fresh as daisy’s so Erich and myself asked them if they were keen to join us for another loop? Stupid question !!! So the bikes were fuelled and off we went, back to pretty close to the halfway mark.

Here’s where the days riding changed all together. It went from mild manned and laughing to balls to the wall, eye ball popping, warp speed. GJ (on his new Beta300) decided a game of cat and mouse was in order so he sent Erich (also on his new Beta 300) and myself on my YZ250 ahead and he and Rensie (KTM300) would chase us like crazy loonies until they caught us, then we would start all over again.

Yeehaa, game on !!! So Erich and myself took off, pretty mind manned at first because we were still a bit unsure of the pace we needed to run. Well, it didn’t take long until they caught us and roosted the **** out of us. Ooh, so that’s how you play this game  >:D

After a quick stop and regroup we took off again. Holy smoke, Erich turned up the wick and set the pace and I followed his lines to the tee, focussing intently on not letting that new Beta embarrass the **** out of me because I knew I would never hear the end of it  ;) The track was blindly fast and so awesomely flowing that I had a stupid grin on my face the entire time. The YZ loves this kind of terrain and the contour jumps and sandy corners where flippen amazing. At times it felt like I was going warp speed on some of the flat box 5th gear sections, with yellow canola flower blurring into a yellow haze. Could we stay away? Not a damn, they rode us down once again  and made us look stupid with overtaking moves that seemed impossible to comprehend  ???.

But even riding Gods have their moments because when we reached them, Rensie's KTM had canola flowers sticking out the hand guards after father and son hooked pegs and son went flower picking  :lol8:

So we stopped and regrouped again and were told in no uncertain terms by our fearless leader GJ we should pull our fingers out. The conversion was however very diplomatic and went something like this “Julle moet ophou rondfok en ry die fokken baaiks”   ;D

Ok, fok jou kaptein, nou gaan ons ry !!!  :ricky: So off Erich and myself went again, pinned and on the ragged edge. Smooth and flowing went out the window and it was replaced by Gung Ho and Oh Fok. We were overshooting corners and popping uncontrolled wheelies all over the place. We had our image to protect here FFS… but boy, was it was freekin mind blowing !!!!

We knew there wasn’t much of the loop left so we tried to keep them at bay until the farm house… without success !!!  :( :( :'( :'(

To add insult to injury, GJ passed me a moerse big water crossing which I stupidly slowed down for and he hit absolutely pinned, screaming like a crazed banshee as he came past  :imaposer: The MF hit me with what can best be described as a “Tidal Wave”. I’m still not sure if I got a bigger fright from the wave or the scream  ;D I was so drenched that I had to stop again and wipe my goggles as I could see jack ****.

We all pulled into the farm yard pissing ourselves laughing and on a biking buzz. Bliksem, that was a whole lot of fun. I honestly wish more trails where like this in the WC  :thumleft:

Thanks Calmax, you guys did an awesome job once again, this ride is the hi-light of the funride season  :thumleft:

Hey what a super lekker ride... Buff thanx for the pics, I was impressed with the old lady (XRV 750) with a brand new set of knobs on. I have never been a big fan off muddy ****, this ride I got my mud wings ;] My BRP would have been a lot nicer to ride, but after meeting the GrimReaper head on in Atlantis she needed a new front end (under construction... will have a KTM front end sticking out)

Not so impressed with my brand new E09 that lost all its knobs on the way home. Apparently it was underinflated for road use. The 1,7 bar that I did the whole race with was fatal for the 20km's to Piketberg at 80km/h. Tour's SE didn't have much juice left in the tank.

Anyway, heads up for the organisers, it was an awsome event and loop. Will be there next year.

Thought only KTMs could do this to a tyre

'n Paar opmerkings van my kant:
'n HP voorrim is hel hard.

Jis Weskus.
