Race Dog
So , on Sunday me and an assistant were in the shop helping customer when a coloured oke and his son(about 10) walked in. Hein , my assistant helped him while I was busy with another customer.
They looked at Arai helmets and the oke tells Hein that he would like to buy the Arai for himself as a 'fathersday gift'. He asks for the helmet to be put on the counter so long while he looks at other goodies.
He then asks Hein for boots , which Hein needs to fetch from the store room in the back. By this time however I have moved to the front of the store so it screws up his plans a bit.
He selects boots he likes and then starts asking about tires , that incidentally is also in the back of the store. I give him the answers he needs without walking to the back so once again his plan is foiled.
Then he starts asking about racing suits. Now the suits hang high on the wall and Hein is not able to take them off by himself. I walk over to go and give Hein a hand in getting the suits off the wall. It is during this time that he walks outside and starts the car . The son then walks in looking to see where we are, walks to the counter, grabs the helmet and runs out jumping into the car and speeding away.
In hindsight it becomes clear that this is what they planned all along and that he tried quite a few times to get us both to the back of the store until he succeeded.
Further investigation revealed the following :
The golf they used was stolen on Sunday morning.
They also stole from Outdoor Warehouse next door.
It is alleged that they stole a DVD player from a Tafelberg furnishers branch.
They stole R900 worth of petrol in Muizenberg in Sunday afternoon using a different vehicle.
