I finally have become a Wilddog Vendor :ricky:
I would like to introduce the African Technical UBag range of saddle bags, after lots of testing. Some of which was done by some of the very kind members here.
There are two models in the range so far:
The UBag 8 which is designed for larger bikes such as the KTM 990, or bikes with wider rear ends such as the KLR or BMW Dakar. It does not need frames or racks and its designed to essentially take the place of a pillion. It retails for R1,999.00.
For more info follow this link https://africantechnical.co.za/ubag-8/
Here are some photos of testing of the prototype.
The final version has a few refinements over the prototype shown in the photos. A slightly different attachment for the front "leg" straps to increase attachment flexibility and a compression strap to compress the bag if its not completely full. Apart from that its the same.
The other bag in the range is the UBag6 which was actually the first bag I designed, essentially for my own use, but it worked so well I went into production. Its designed for smaller bikes like my Husky 610, XR650, 690 - those sort of bikes. Again it does not need racks or frames and simply sits on the bike. Its quite a small bag, but big enough to carry a small tent, sleeping bag clothes etc. I specifically wanted a small bag to ensure that I dont take much - so it would force me to be ruthless when packing. I like riding a nice light nimble bike, and didnt want to turn it into a lumbering hippo when going on a trip :thumleft: It retails for R1710.00
I've used it extensively on multiday camping trips away and it works great :thumleft:
More info is available here https://africantechnical.co.za/ubag-6/
Here are some photos:
What I normally fit into my bag:

Both bags can be ordered directly from the website https://africantechnical.co.za/online-orders/
Conrad at OffRoad Cycles also has stock. The price should be the same from him.
Both bags are made from tough water resistant polyester fabric (the same stuff they use for bakkie canopies). The wide opening is covered with a very large dust/water flap that keeps out dust and water well. And we use a heavy duty 10mm YKK zip with dual sliders.
The bag is very rugged and tough. My bag, which is the original UBag 6 prototype, has done close to 8,000 k's of rugged off road trips with no issues what so ever! Never had dust or water inside the bag yet :thumleft:
