Fidel`s report, i`ve added some stuff.
Fidel, Frohan,Bus,Foerie-kop,Wannabe and moa.
Fidel:
I had been itching for a getaway to as far from the urban jungle and into nature as possible. Such a getaway would naturally have to involve bikes, roughing-it, seeing new places and sharing of the experience with mates over a few good doppe.
Fidel: The mission was to make the getting there, as testing and interesting as possible. Dirt roads through scenic places with frequent pit stops, was the goal, and many laughs and OBâ??s the outcome.
Fidel: Building up to the weekend, images of sitting around a large bushfire, dop in hand, in total darkness, kept on poping into my mindyou know, like those graphical flashbacks after a night at Teazers.
Fidel: Thereâ??s just something magical about the dancing flames of a big camp fire, reflecting off natural objects such as trees and bush (this bushâ??s got nothing to do with the Teazers story) under open skies, that just touches deep within man and his primal instincts!
Fidel: Anysberg was that place of choice, as I had been there before and slept over in a little shack, nestled in the mountains. I remembered it as being extremely remote and pristine in its beauty, and farâ?¦.far away, from all the complexities of life.
Fidel: The last time Iâ??d been there was in summer, so I wasnâ??t really sure what to expect mid-winter, other thanâ?¦â?¦. it was gonna be colder than a witches tit.
My vision of adventure biking is to challenge ones body and mind, in different ways.
DS: Fidel is showing his challenge for body -- what he is all going to mix for that gluewine tonight ;D
DS: Fidels idea of challenge for the mind -- him and Bus smoking the cinamon sticks meant for the gluewine much later that night :imaposer:
Riding and sleeping in the mountains of the Klein Karoo in winter, was gonna be just such a challenge, never mind riding up the rocky trail to the hut in pitch darkness!
Yip, all the pit stops along the way resulted in us arriving there in total darkness!
DS: and here are the pitstops.....
DS: Rainbow just outside Villiersdorp
DS: Robertson
DS: Across the road at Sopranos
DS: Montague
Last stop in civilization...Bus showing us how to stalk those hot farmer tannies come shopping at the OK.
DS: All da boys enjoying the heated grips.....
DS: Fidel reminding us again that front wheels on ponies only needed for a sharp direction change...
DS: Getting to the gate was getting dark quickly...little did we know how long we still had to go( *&%$# Fidel knew...)
Fourie-kop trying his Kung Fu Pandal look
DS: After Fidel did this i realised 2 things: why Iti`s prefer to kiss on the cheeck and why Muffy had such a smile when i fetched Fidel from home that morning... ;D
...and Wannabe pulled out this seriously impressive snack display.....holding nothing back
DS: Minutes later after going through the gate and finishing another snack break nature put on the spectacular display just for us.
Lets just say there where some interesting and some holknyping moments in the last hour of our trip, leading up to the hut.
DS: Arriving in total darkness the first obvious step was da fire.....tiredness took over and the fun just kept on going.....
DS: Wannabe trying out his: rockstar leap off the stage into the crowd :imaposer:
.....looks like a Montague veld spietkop ;D
DS: And then of course....how can Bus be around without a photo bomb...
DS: We woke up the next morning in this amazing surrounding.....
DS: Time for a brekkie....no one wanted to leave so things went as slow as possible
DS: And then it was time to pack up and head back.....seeing where Fidel took us in darkness...
DS: Bus demonstrating how cool he would look on a Beemer
DS: Back at Soprano`s in Robertson....here we said our good bye`s, Bus,Frohan and Fourie-kop split from
and took another way home....
DS: And so, Sunday came to an end with the sun giving us a lazy wink....and 6 wild dogs continued on their way home, each one with a song in their heats....and with huge smile, from ear to ear.
Fidel:
Here my riding buddies stepped up to the challenge impressively. Not one bitched or complained, just all a bunch of easy going and adventurous manne. It was just, as Reverend Superjuice always says, â??its lekka when its lekkaâ??
Iâ??m also relieved to say that I came back with my virginity intact, even though the sleeping arrangements where tight!
Anyway, great bunch of guys, awesome surroundings and a befokde trippie.
As large as the Anysberg Reserve is, its hidden inland between Monatgue and Lainsburg. I only got to know about this place about two years ago, while Google erfing. What surprised me after going there the first time, was that not only is it massive and beautiful, but very few people seem to know about it!
Soos Frohan tereg opgemerk het: "jy is so `n bevange ou, net jammer jy ry so `n k&# bike" ;D
Natuurlik kan ek nie afsluit sonder die foto nie, het vinnig uitgewerk dit moes van die BM ou gekom het....
Fidel se ponie het so bietje moeg begin word
