I seriously consider turning around with my tail between my legs, but decide to follow Trygve Roberts’ advice.

Don’t ride it if you’re not prepared to walk it. I don’t look forward to getting my boots wet, but walk all the way to the other side. My heart is pumping, and so is the river! I got my balls wet, but doesn’t mean much at my age……

Opening and closing these gates on trips and especially when you are traveling solo makes you really realise how isolated you can become on some trips. Well for me in any case.

I’ve learnt a lot from @Just Blip It! Over the years, especially doing deep water crossings on a 990. A 990 can go through deep water like no other adventure bike!

I put on my big girl panties and ride through! Easy peasy…… but I forgot to press record on the Gopro……. No way I’m doing this and not have the footage to prove it

I’m sure the Tiger is much faster, but it doesn’t have the 990s suspension in the rough stuff.

Another kudu skrik just before Steytlerville, although nowhere near as close as the event in Baviaans, but enough for me to take a “steering damper” in the bar in Royal Hotel in Steytlerville

I book into a lovely (and cheap) room at the Royal Hotel and Steytlerville. Head to bar for a beer and a meal. Little did I know that it would be my last meal for 48 hours…..

A few rowdy drinkers spoil the experience and I head to my room and get to bed early.
