My GPS starts to act up and I make a wrong call. We have to backtrack several kms but eventually end up back on route. Lunch and coffee in De Rust before we continue

The planned route was to turn right at Springbok game reserve. We changed to rather ride the Matjesfontein section to Cango Caves the night before but took the right turn anyway and rode all the twisy bits before realising our error. Turned around and got to ride it a second time. Fun bit of road

Next morning I’m up early for a shower and pack my bike to wheel it over to Dwerg’s accommodation. We have a coffee and some rusks and wait for Nico to come back from his mtb ride so we can settle our bill.

Not at all. I don’t enjoy camping, especially on longer trips. Have all the gear and use it once in a blue moon
Prefer not having a bike loaded with camping gear as it limits where and how I can ride my bike.

Thanks for the reply, it was what I thought seeing how light your are packed 👍

Ek weet nie hoe die Truimph ry nie, maar judging net na die foto's is daai bike nommerpas vir Dwerg. Lekker platvoet as hy gepark staan. (y)
👏

We ride through a virtually bone dry Smitskraal and a couple of kms later we have what I reckon to be one of he biggest, if not THE biggest skriks I’ve ever had on a bike! Kudu cow crosses in front of us and it was a super close call. It happened so quickly! If I recall, it was all over in a matter of 1,5sec! Virtually no time to react although I think we both did well to take evasive action. We both cover front brake while riding and it most certainly makes for decreased reaction time in braking.

So many thoughts run through my mind at that point. I remember feeling extremely relieved for myself, but also huge amount of relief that @Dwerg is ok after all that he’s been through on a bike in the last few years.

The video clip is without sound as the mocking I had to endure in the headset for the next hour or more about my screaming in the clip was unbearable ……

Taking in consideration that that gopro's got wide angle lenses and it was closer than what it even apears to be on the footage.
50mm in full frame gives you the human eye perspective

We are both severely rattled by the event! Humor kick in immediately and a few good laughs calm us down eventually. We stop on the concrete strip climb for a break.
