We head off on the sandy track and it is as if we have just moved to another part of Heaven. The Marienfluss is something to behold and I find myself stopping every few 2-3 minutes to take in the scenery and take a few pics.

We stop at a split in the tweespoor to confirm the track. A few guys follow the tracks of the cars and end up doing a sandy 20km detour    eepwall:

Hennie and the other two stooges were misled by Hennie's 1960's gps which could only load routes, and not tracks. This infamous gps named "Pinky" often led the three stooges on their own merry way, yet they luckily never got lost.
Hennie never seemed to be bothered by Pinky's behaviour, and always made his way to the camp somehow.
Janco, Steff and myself crossed the Marienfluss and found NoneKing taking pics of the scenery along the way. I knew then that he enjoyed the trip the way it should be enjoyed. It was good to see this guy, who seem to have everything, taking the time to admire the simple beauty of this place.
It happens on every trip though - This place does things to your heart and to your soul.
We waited for the guys who followed Pinky at the connection road, and it wasn't long before PK's Dr could be heard in the distance.
Peter told me prior to the trip that he was not a great sand rider.
Well, I can tell you that Pete was ripping up the sand over the Marienfluss as he came flying towards us.

After he joined us, we waited for another 15 minutes before the two Cruisers and the Pinky followers joined up with us, as we headed towards Rooidrom.

Marienfluss was some of my favourite riding ever. So glad I missed the track and did the extra 20 odd kays. The DR was in its element and so was I

Terrain goes from soft sand to rocks in a matter of a few hundred meters and back to sand again. Most were pinch flats from running low preassures for sand and then going into rocky terrain. Amazingly very few thorn punctures even though there were plenty thorns around. Up to this point I think it was only the one puncture. A few more to come  eepwall:

There were a few yes, most notably 4 on the 290km day to Brandberg [emoji19][emoji19]

At this point I was properly moeg. 4 nights of interrupted sleep and two days of hard riding was taking it's toll. I lay down in the shade and actually dozed off a couple of times. The rest arrived, fixed a puncture and by the time we were ready to head for Rooidrom Pass, I felt like a million dollars.
