Quick weekend raid on ROAD TO HELL in a Landy

My brother and I decided to give it a go this weekend - left Cape Town on Friday morning and got back last night

We have done it a few times on bikes ...now we wanted to see if we can even do it in a Land Rover

An epic 3 day weekend was had and RTH was conquered again with absolute minimum fuss.

I was very disappointed that his Land Rover did not break down.

We did about 250 km of gravel road driving on the Eco Trail ...it was terrible, but the 650 km of tar each way was even worse

We did camp next to the river at the bottom ...Your wife was right not to go there because the place has really been mismanaged and gone to ruin ...

First off the camp manager was nowhere to be found and reception was all locked up. When we did find him he had no record of our booking and the Villa was not ready so we had to sleep on the ground.

The wi-fi was not working and he could not remember the password. He had also lost the keys to the ablutions.

We had to braai for dinner because there was no electricity for our microwave.

And to top it off there were no more Nespresso capsules

It is a 2013 Puma PUP ...so it has the 2,2 Ford engine (4 cylinder turbo diesel electronic injection - apparently the same engine as a 2,2 Ranger ...except the Landy is much slower)

A Land Rover with a Ford Engine ... now owned and built by Tata ....what could go wrong ?

We wanted to be comfortable and have lots of cold beer - that's why we didn't take bikes this time

We carried 2 spare wheels, an air jack, 2 mattresses, wood, braai grid, 2 coolerboxes, some clothes, sleeping bags, tent, gazebo and 25 litres water

Next time I won't take wood (because there is plenty there) , tent (not needed - sleep outside under the stars),  BUT I will take more beer instead of so much water
