Here are some pics from the rallye raid which my mate compiled from various cameras. Unfortunately, my camera was donated to the local inhabitants, but these are just as good. I'll post them and comment on them in a rough timeline
This is some of the lads on the way up there from PE. Navigator in the middle and Brian on the left – who was soon to write off his GS on the tar
Here’s the result – high speed overcooking of a corner a hundred k’s from the venue at wartrail
Pat on his SE arriving at the campsite. This year there were blue tents and other colours amongst the orange KTM colours
The evening starting to get chilly. Dropped to minus 6 in the night
As you can see the next day
Could easily be in Europe!
Early past of the riding on day 1 – this cave was quite impressive, as was the path we had to navigate past it
Lunch – notice Navigator has been at the gym
Pat took a head first into a muddy pool – looked shallow, but it wasn’t. He got a bump on his leg.
Chewing the cud after the first day’s ride. Notice how thirsty riding can make you
Getting ready for the evening jol. Little did we know what was to come.
Pretty violinists
And then some not so pretty sights
Eventually Navigator had to restrain Mufasa
The rest of the pics are in no particular order...
J-dog having some medicinal refreshment
This is at Padrones farm
Padrone giving a piece of his mind
My mate chris (middle) and hennie the doctor who administered some strong medicine after I fell
Padrone getting ready to ride
Mornings were misty and VERY cold
Must be the altitude
Paul in the Rhodes bar – shouldn’t he be riding?
Some awesome sights
The next evening, KTM Jedi decided to do a burnout with my 690 as soon as I put new knobblies on it
Gerhard and Pat looking very pleased with the attention. Apparently things got out of hand that night. I can’t remember.
Some more riding challenges
Unfortunately, there were quite a few prangs this year. Jean took a high speed tumble at broke his leg in three places – very lucky to be alive (160km/h plus)
Not all that much damage to the bike. Very lucky for Jean and bike that he landed in a bog.
Some more beautiful tracks. Some a little tricky
My neighbour’s son on his A. Twin. He really knew how to ride those 200kgs +
A bit of mud in the hills
Did I mention it was a bit chilly?
More mud and shit
Thats about it. There are a lot more, but I’ve realised doing RR’s is hard work!
