Ride Report at Last pg 2 Horse Power vs Horsepower my Solo Namibia Oct 2012

Anyone who wants to know how animals and people of the Namib survive read the book THE SHELTERING DESERT BY Henno Martin. Increadable true life story. Like Alaska, The Namib is a must some day.

Hi Ho so here goes the RR
or more like a Photo Report
I'm not so eloquent as many of a fellow WD RR writers
SO how did this SOLO trip come about ?
Well the WIFI is from Durban and well I JUST don't get on with her FAMILY
So the Youngest brother at 40 Decided to get married and I needed a way to get the F out of going to the wedding .
At this time my Eldest Daughter mentions the ADVENTURE Society WTF wants row the Orange river around the time of wedding ( 3 weeks apart )
SO I say Cool you choose Wedding or Rowing - Duhuh she choose rowing.
SO I suggest 2 WIFI I will drive my 17 year old princess 2 Nam so she does not have drive in the BUS !!!!
That's how the Trip came about.

We booked in at a very larney Guest House for the first night and the next day I went to show her some of Nam by Car.
It was an awesome day and a Beut Full moon.

So the next day we Hooked up with the Fairmont High School from Durbanville
Lotsa young chickens needing lotsa sunblock
Finally they left at about 10h00
I had arrange with her BFF to do this on my signal , shame was not happy.
I finally hit the road and took a while to get the hang of the VERY SANDY Difts on my way to Canyon Roadhouse lodge.
Happy Camper to be alone at last with me myself and I - and just a little nervous
Must say , I can see how guys see thier asses so easy up in Nam.....Long Streches and you need to concentrate all the time.
It was 37C and I found this very Cute Pussy lazing at the pool.
Lotsa young chickens needing lotsa sunblock
Finally they left at about 10h00
I had arrange with her BFF to do this on my signal , shame was not happy.

Really a beut place to stay and within easy reach of many towns and the Fish River Canyon
Was lekker to just chill out and relax
Night soon fell and I spent ages taking photos of the stars.
Flippen moon kinda stuffed me around a little
The next day I was up and enjoyed the Yummo Buffet Breafast and about 4 cups of coffee
I was ready 2 Ride
Im sure many know this crossing

The bike ran like a dream and ate up the gravel with only 3 heart attacks along the way.
I soon hit the Tar and opened up , new set of Heidi's ( Piston Pete ) Doing very well at 180
My Ass was getting sore
Quick stop at AUS for a Coke and Fuel and chat to the local German Tour BUS ( Always friendly bunch )
I start think about the WILD FERELL HORSES ....will they be there , should i stop
About 1km from the turn off i see 2 on the Left side of the road. I skim stop take some pics at least I get to see some.
Finally take the turn off ....Not a sole in sight....come over the hill to see at least 200 Horses - WOWeeee
I first stop about 200 meters away thinking they would run from the bike.....Nahhh no chance of that.
Spent about 2 hours there , was amazing to watch them.
These 2 were clearly turned on by the bike.

It was time to get a move on and go say Hi to my GREAT GREAT GRANDFATHER
I was at Luderitz and went to see his Grave ....My Dad who is 83 now has never been and asked me to go say Hi.
He Fought in the 1st WW and Died in Luderitz on 21 st Jan 1915
Booked in at the Hotel at 16h00 ( Yes I know I was slumming it ) ( NO Mommy didnt know about the Hotels )
Soon it was shorts and T and off to explore a little.
This was AGATE Beach ...nice hard and easy to ride

The Next day was Kolmanskop Ghost town.
The Pekkie tried to pull a fast one and rush me R 180 to enter , but I knew the tour was at 8am and was on R 40 to enter.
I was in an taking photos before anyone alse got there.
Some of these are shot in HDR , many people dont like this style , I do.
It really is very cool to explore all the houses.
But you need time , a morning at least.
The Pekkie tried to pull a fast one and rush me R 180 to enter , but I knew the tour was at 8am and was on R 40 to enter.

Some more stunning and yet flipping sandy roads
I got back at about 3Pm sto meet up with my Daughter Natasha ...they had rowed 62Kms and had a total Blast.
SO Glad I could let her experience this. It was an awesome time for us both.
We have always been close and this has just strengthened our bond.
Many Boring Family pics and a rather Lamo trip compared to some of the Die Hard WD's , but I loved every minute
