Great pics, NoelineT and a very nice report.

What is it with R & M and water?  They must plan a trip to Beaufort West to break the drought there.
\Should start a Rain and Mud board?
Mudderaintors -  Rynet and Mark660?

Great RR - thanks to all contributing :thumleft:
I was hoping to join the EC Dogs in meeting Rynet-and-Co, but Smitskraal (I think) swallowed my bike the previuos weekend. :(
It was my first time riding through water as well, and if anybody can suggest the best way to "ride" a 1200 GS through water, now is the time, please. I have realised that this bike can not handle deep water  ???
Baviaans was awesome, though  :) and I can't wait to get back there.
Pray and close you eyes   :mwink:

Since drowning my bike is always in the back of my mind , I always let someone else ride first, if we don't first walk across, and then if its deep ( but not too deep) I try to ride across as slowly as I can , so the water doesn't splash very much, but not too slow too stall . I have just been lucky so far I guess.  I have seen quite a few GS1200 drownings myself , and its quite a palava to dry it out.  ::)

Hope your bike is ok now ?

You wouldn't be the first to drown your bike in Baviaanskloof, Hitman.

Fixed Dustyroad's 1100 after drowning there recently too.

I was the only one with a GS1200 on our trip, so think I would have the lowest intake, but no I don't have snorkel. I have made some enquiries about it and was told it is quite a process to get one?

The others had 1 x HP2, 1x GS800,  1x Dakar and 3 x XT660's .

Pooratech, Take a kreepy's pipe fit over the air intake and bring the other end out by your handle bars in front of the tank. Works like a charm.
Make sure it's sealed tight round the air intake though.

The last time I saw the water so high was in 1996 when that forestry truck got washed of and all the school kids drowned.

WOW Nemo , I did wonder how often the Baviaans floods like that ,  I had NO idea it was so rare    I feel privileged to have been part of such an unusual natural occasion  , even if we missed out on a great party  :thumleft:

Ps thanks for the info about the pipe, will bring one with next time and you can show me ,please? :mwink:
