Loving your ride report! Brings back memories.

I also had installed Ultra HD tubes in my 500 prior to my Kaokoland trip and they turned the bike into a wobbly out-of-balance mess. I spent the next 4 days trying to figure it all out until the valve stem on the tube broke and I threw in a normal tube to replace it with. Suddenly the bike calmed down and felt stable again. From now on, I'm not using Ultra HD tubes again.

Keep the fun coming.

Strange situation Bruce, not sure what causing this on the 500 though unless the wheel is not balanced.. I have been running UHD tubes on my 990 for a few years, always balance the wheels and have never had issues. Hit 211km/h recently and even at speed they vibration free so can attest that they are workable, even as a daily commute option... :thumleft:

also been running them for a while now, on 1190 and 990, and not bothered to balance wheels, and never had much issues. I may be to stupid to notice though, the 1190 did get bad tank slappers around 200kmp.

Anyhoooo....where is the rest? This is a great read....

(Thanks for sharing Striggs, I had a good laugh at the bald eagles comment...)
