Just outside Upington

I got up just after 4am this morning. Everyone else is still sleeping Striggs, Hein and Hennie Roos arrived late yesterday afternoon from East London. PK, Oubones, Chantal, Annemien & myself drove from Loxton with the Mog, two Cruisers and all the bikes. It was good to see the boys from Slummies again.

Oubones made the braai his own and treated us to Kalahari steak, wors and Braaibroodjies.
The conversations around the campfire jumped from Covid vaccines and Ivermectim to leaking forkseals and speculation over possible weather conditions up North.
As I sit here outside on the stoep, sipping on the strongest coffee I had in a while, I realize that I am a very fortunate man.
I have never had a bad group on tour. I have also never had a bad staff member and that is something I am very thankful for.
It will be my first trip in the Kaokoland on an orange bike, and I really hope it works out.
We hit the border just after 8:30 and everyone in the group had negative Covid results so all should be fine.

See you on the other side

This is gonna ROCK

Was on my way to a site inspection to Keetmanshoop yesterday morning and passed your convoy about 80km from Mariental.

The afternoon on the way back to WHK I passed a few brave riders making their way up north. They were pushing it as I just filled up in Mariental and when I left they pulled in at the service station.

I assume they are part of your group?

Thanks for the pretrip write up. Your side of the story is always super interesting. Good luck with the tour, I'm sure everyone will have a fantastic time. I look forward to seeing Kaokoland again.  :sip:

Back in Loxton after detouring from Ariamsvlei border post back to Noordoewer due to a South African official testing positive for covid 19. Ridereport will appear in drips and drabs as we have to clean everything before the next tour.
Everyone on the tour is welcome to contribute.

Great Trip Hardy de Kock a great privilege to have been able to do this trip with you and the awesome guests ensemble put together.

Lots of Brandy, expensive cigarettes, a die-hard husky, a very peculiar snake dance, a serious contribution towards Namibi’s post-covid economy and other kleinigheidjies changed the theme of the report
