Amazing pics, dream ride.

Runner, I believe you built racks for the 650R's for the trip? Do you have any pics of the racks?
Did you strengthen the subframes to carry weight also?

And to Runner, Redrider and Gforce (if you're on this forum) what kind of weight were you carrying on the back of the XR's,  any idea? Any subframe problems?

I'm looking at ways to reinforce my XR subframe and put on a rack for a long trip / heavy load, any info or ideas would be appreciated.

My Pack was +- 10Kg. Subframe was OK, but some carrier bolts was lost, and then some more broke. Runner changed them to M8 and added lots of Loctite.

Excellent trip!

When was this exactly?
Last Saturday I came over Pakhuis Pass and 5 bikes was coming from Clanwilliam side (with no luggage). It was raining cats and dogs. Nice and muddy.

Yes, we saw you.  It was August 11

Thanks china. I live vicariously through these ride reports, and this one is stunning.

Thanks Runner ,Thankfully U only got me after I picked the bike up  ;)my favorite position is actually underneath the bike with my head in the sand  ;D

Yes my packs weighted +- 20kg and I had no problems will post some pics of the racks and bags ,It is similar to dirtbagz racks with some added protection for the side covers ,the model xr 's we got in SA has a honda subframe extention wich with very little modification lots of loctite do the thing .I know runner has a billet rack not sure exactly witch one .I have read some of your posts on adv rider with lots of interest welcome to our forum.

Fantastic ride guys ,  it would be great if you could explain the route you did and what permits you had to get before the trip I have had the pleasure of only doing half of the trip you did, in a 4x4 and would like to know the other half.

Thanks for a super report and pics !Well done  :) :)

Bevarkte ride ouens. 8)English translation  :I'm jealous!!!

Yep the racks on the XR's are based on the Dirt Bagz setup but better since the bags rests against the frame and not on the sidepanels. The XR's needs 8mm bolts on the subframe, the DRZ S comes with a proper subframe for adventure trips :) Thanks Killroy, the headlight is the best mod ever and very usefull on the trip but I need a bigger tank. I'm looking at the IMS then the DRZ would be perfect.

Ek het nou nou met DD gestaan en gesels en terwyl ons praat het ek net gesit en dink hoe bef@k dit moes gewees het. Eendagggg.....
