Dirtwarp must just double check the 500's fuel lines :p

Hoe seer kry my ego nou nie!

🍺

In the preceding couple of years the route for the Kaokoland & Damaraland tour has stayed more or less the same. For various reasons Hardy decided that, for this group, something special should be served up.

Over the past few months we have had many discussions about the "new" route – it will be tougher, longer and will run through places where the lions and elephants are known to be found. Is the added risk worth it? Hardy has to make the final call, and he has to balance his two objectives – making the trip as exciting and epic as possible for the group, but also ensuring that everyone gets to go home safely to tell their family about their trip. I am certain that this keeps him up most nights – that is just how committed he is to these tours.

Stretches that were previously completed over two days are now combined into one. There is a very real risk that the group get delayed and might only arrive at camp after dark. All of these scenarios are discussed and debated in detail. It definitely is not as simple as the lines of a track on a GPS might make it seem.

It gives me great pleasure reading this.

I can’t talk for everyone, but I like a bit of danger and semi-managed “risk”. Especially since there’s pro’s in charge of everything and great backup, my feeling is that these risks are ok (for me). They add to the excitement for me. Something you can’t really afford to do when you’re self supported.

That’s the best part of this tour for me, because there’s backup and support with domain experts, I’m open for more extreme situations knowing I’ve got some support behind me.

Not talking about recklessness, just good’ol adventure with a hint of danger!

Looking forward to not having to pitch/unpitch my tent 23 times, unpack and pack a massive BAG each evening and morning and needing to strap this monstrosity to the bike! Get’s old real quick🤣

I think my sentiments will quickly change when I see a lion ahead of me 🫣 Would LOVE to see one whilst on my bike, big item on my bucket list.

Let’s GO!

OK Werner, omdat jy nou so eerlik is sal ek ook maar: die enigste rede hoekom ek my 300 kies is omdat my nuwe 500 NIE n kickstarter het nie!
Daar het julle dit, straight from the horse's mouth.
YEEHAAA!!!!!
