You made me proud, happy and sad.

Proud that you are a fellow (South) African, living life here on our great continent in a fashion that we all should (would like to) be and treating people from all walks of life (including your family) in a way that I also believe people should be treated.

Happy when I read about your experiences, in places that I love dearly and doing things that make my heart beat faster.

And sad that this honest, epic piece of adventure motorcycle riding literature is now something not to be enjoyed in "real time" anymore.

Mr Metaljockey, I look forward to buying you a cold one one day.

MJ and family, tx for the GREAT report and allowing all of us a glimps into your live while on tour!!

This was a great RR and I am sure quite a few other dawgs would like to follow your tracks..

On another note, if you don't mind me asking, what did this trip cost you?

The fuel for the two bikes was in the region of R4500, I budgeted R6000.

Accomodation was R8000, I budgeted R7000. That averages out to about R265 per day. It can be done a lot cheaper.

I don't really count food because you gotta eat, wherever you are. But for those that are interested, food and beer and all incidentals - R 7000. That averages out to about R250 a day.

Tharina's note -

Dear Wilddogs

Thankyou for all your heartfelt comments and compliments.

This trip has been wonderful in so many ways, and probably once in a lifetime. I have experienced the freedom of mind and soul by just having to deal with the here and now. Sometimes it was very hard to deal with, but I got through. Mostly it was fantastic.

Peanut is a very easy child and a joy to take along. We also got to see the trip through her 5-year old eyes.

I now understand the euphoria that Erik experiences on his trips!

Cheers
Tharina

Noooo ..... you can't be finished.... Surely there are some details which you didn't cover properly in the rr. I am looking at a tough week at work and need a daily fix to get through it.  :thumleft:

Only had the pleasure of travelling through Namibia once so far (next trip planned for April next year) but your report brought it all back to life in vivid technicolor. Especially the dynamics of riding together as a husband and wife combo, as JustBiking and I have to deal with that as well. I always think of our trip through Namibia as an excellent team building exercise.

Thanks to you Tharina and Peanut for sharing your experiences with us. Can't wait for you three to leave home again.  :ricky:

WOW !!!! .... what a fantastic read from start to finish!

Mj, Tharina and "Peanut" ... the three of you should be an inspiration to many.  Words cannot express the respect I have for you all.

If ever you decide to write a book (hopefully you do), I would be first in the queue to buy.

This was the best RR by far ever!  Awesome pics and great story telling!  :thumleft:

Note to self:  Do not start reading a MJ RR at 12 in the night.  Its 4 hrs later, I just could not stop!!!!  ::)

In daai ander wannabe se woorde: "It is all about the bike always have been, always will be."

Thank you so much for sharing this experience with us  :thumleft:

All three of you are amazing, actually doing it and not just dreaming it :ricky:
