Yes, we expect a full Ride Report bright and early on Thursday morning (by the latest)  ;D

Pity he left Barkley East in a hurry  ;), i have one paid entry, up for grabs to the KTM Ralley Raid this weekend ;D ;D. I don't think those KTM'ers will ID his bike as a Beemer in its current state ;D.

LOL!!! I'd rather not think about that... (i.e. the ocndition of the bike)

SO I lied, here's another update:

The two sods had it bad yesterday - riding in rain all the way. Quite a chunk of their route was dirt, which ended up being muddy slippery slides in the end. Needless to say that they met with Mother Earth again (maybe because some people don't get it that you're supposed to drive slightly slower on mud???). Poor 650DL had some damage to his panniers.... Poor guy. the_wes luckily escaped damage this time (as far as I know).

Unfortunately all this meant that they drove quite a bit slower than anticipated, and were only at Pearston close to dusk time. By around 7pm they enetered Jansenville and rather decided to call it a day. Good choice on their part. The lady from The Cottage B&B welcomed them with a glass of muscadel to warm them up before whipping up a nice warm supper. She was also kind enough to offer them the use of her Dry-Buddy to get their soaking wet attire dry. Apparently Wes' rain pants have a few holes after Lesotho. He was literally shivering when he spoke to me on the phone. They guys from the guest house in Steytlerville was also very understanding about them not being able to push through all the way. I love people from the Platteland!!!

650DL had to "panelbeat" his panniers this morning, so they only left Jansenville shortly after 10am this morning. Whether they will actually make it to the shores of Cape Town today, I don't know... But frankly, I'd rather only see my hubby tomorrow in one piece than have him ride the last stretch in an over-tired state. So the waiting continues...

Luckily the weather forecast promises no rain on their route today, but then there's always teh winds to contend with... Will keep you posted (as always).

;)

ok then, we'll be waiting for news on their safe return (and a RR)

and to make the RR snappy -

run him a tub, get him soaked with a cold one in the hand, he dictates - and you get typing away!!  ;) ;D

Good Idea!

mmm.... I have slightly different ideas, but anyway... >:D

you'll just have to wait patiently for the RR!

Mmmm, so the front door's the 2nd thing that'll go bang when Wes gets home!

Looking forward to seeing my mate again. Tell him to ride safe these last few miles.
