For a while I could not get away. I was getting cabinfever. At last I could ride! More than a daytrip!!
I was looking forward to visit friends and ride roads I have not before and only to realize there are many more I need to
go back for! There were no flowers really this year. Lots of flowers would have made the trip even better.
I travelled 2525km in the 7 days I was away and open and closed 61 gates!!!
Part of Sleeping Beauty close to Riversdale.
Towerkop close to Ladismith.
The dirtroad between Ladismith and Laingsburg. It would be a sad day if they ever tar it, but if they do it would
be Superbikeheaven!
Just before Rooibergpass.
A fillup in Laingsburg and on the road through the MoordenaarsKaroo.
Love this road!!
Lots of these sementbridges to cross.
Useually everyone goes strait here, but I turned left for a change. Good desition!
Would this be the best flowers Id see on the trip?
On top of Komsbergpas.
I just rode through Sutherland and had a quick look for fellow bikers and kept on to Middelpos.
Rode through Middelpos. First turnoff left after Middelpos is the shortest route to my friends farm but it has nine gates.
Middelpos in the background.
Imagine the time it took to put up a wall like that. In the days before fenceing.
Got the tyres wet for the first time.
These "koppies" are just behind my friends house. Just over 500km and it was great to be out on the bike!! :thumleft:
Saterdaymorning I took it slow getting up and started rideing towards Calvinia with a road that runs through the
Roggeveldmountains. The weather was perfect for rideing.
Seven old farmhouses together.
This place is called the "preekstoel" Can see why. In the distance is the R355.
I really enjoyed this road!!
Calvinia was busy!! Vehicles with numberplates from all over the country. Not a festival for a vegetarian!!!
Snafu in a good mood!
All the "stofskoeters" parked together.
A Harley stall!
Lots of animals for the kids to see. NOT eat!!
Stayed a few hours and took a spin through town before I left.
Calvinia is a dry place, but it has a waterfront!
Took a different route back to my friends farm.
I just had to take a pic of this little Nunguni.
Saturdayevening we had our own meatfestival on the farm!!!
Sundaymorning I had to force myself to get out of bed. My friend tried to make me stay another day. I did not know
then I had 16 gates waiting for me that day!!!!
Took the shortest route back to Calvinia filled up and took the dirtroad to Loeriesfontein and turned left on the
Naresiroad after 40kms.
That is a big Kokerboom!
Rode through Niewoudtsville and took the tarroad to Loeriesfontein and turned left after a kilometer.
Ive known of this little pass down to the Knersvlakte for quite some time but never got the chance to ride it.
Stunning!!! And then the gates started!! And it got hot down in the Knersvlakte!!
At three Sundayafternoon I stopped in Van Rhynsdorp, phoned my friend who lives 90kms from there on a farm.
Filled up in Lutzville as the next fuel I will get would be in Garies. Opening 16 gates and pushing the bike through
had me snoreing for sure that night!!
Little did I know the next day would be 17!!!!!!!!!!!!
To continued.
