I need a basic welding machine to do welding on the odd project bike, like brackets etc.
I know very little about welding although i've got by in the past using father in laws's ancient machine. Unfortunately this is not available to me anymore.
I see one can get "low end machines" at Builder and Brights for just over R1000.00.
A bit further up the price list are machines that do tig or mig and then further up the price scale one gets machines that do both I think. For my welding purposes does it warrant getting one of these fancier Mig/tig machines
I dont even know the difference to be honest.
My house does'nt have 3 phase power like my last house..(Not sure if it's needed for a welding machine)
The immediate need for the welder is to facilitate the removal of the lower bearing cup from my KLR Steering head. This is apparently one of the recognised methods of doing this job as there is no slot to get a drift to purchase.
Advice please.
