Just Blip It!
Race Dog
Xpat had a bit of an off today in Swaziland. He went down hard after his front wheel caught a rut on a gravel road close to the Jeppes Reef border post. He broke his left leg below the knee with a typical impact twist when he put his foot down to try save the fall. It was not even a high speed fall, probably around 60km/h. Straatkat, TK, Chopperpilot ant Steelimage were with on the ride. We were on our way back to the border after an awesome hardcore technical ride in Swaziland. Ironically we tackled some seriously technical and challenging terrain during the weekend and Xpat goes down on an open gravel road on the relaxing ride home. Accidents can happen anywhere any time. Be careful out there and always expect the unexpected!
We got an ambulance to him within 45 minutes and he was transported to the border where an SA ambulance collected him and took him through to hospital Nelspruit. We are waiting for an update as to his condition and when they will be operating on his leg. After a great weekend of riding with Xpat I have huge respect for the man, a really capable rider with a really good sense of humor. I wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to riding with him again soon.
Shortly after the fall waiting for the ambulance.
The offending rut that sealed his fate.
Serious Ambo for our mate.
Ready to be loaded.
Loaded and still managed a smile and a joke.
Xpat enjoying the weekends ride before his unfortunate off.
