The place is quiet with few guests about. We are in rooms 6 and 7 this time.

Lots of water coming down the river with the sounds that produces. It is really a special place they have here.

We leave late as today we have all of ... 150k's to Canyon Lodge. We were booked into the Village but it's closed and we are now in the Lodge. It's an upgrade they say and we get the two furthermost rooms from everything. But first the C13 along the river is closed ... ? ... washed away in places we later find out. That however does not stop us going part way down to the Gamkab River were we turn right and go through the canyon. It has recently seen water and is soft 'n muddy in places but always nice to do. 8k's in and I am slightly ahead and it's obvious by now not to follow the car tracks but to pick your own line. I stop and wait for Al ... who does not arrive ... so back track to see him on his arse in the sand. "Getting Old...?" I ask ... "Na, just looking at the girls on the beach" he says. ?? ... Note to self; check his Camel Bak for a suspected 3:1 Tequila/Water mix ...

The D324 is always a great ride with lekker views of the Fish River. It also goes through a small part of the Transfrontierpark and for years now an old Chevy has been parked facing the wind soon after the turn off and I have videos of the fan turning in the breeze ... well some shitheads have stolen the fan in the last 3 years.
Canyon Village is a nice place to stay over.

The Lodge and the Village are basically on the same property with the same owners, the Village is hidden behind some koppies.

and for years now an old Chevy has been parked facing the wind soon after the turn off and I have videos of the fan turning in the breeze ... well some shitheads have stolen the fan in the last 3 years.

Die bliksims!!! That fan was doing it's job cooling the area in the slightest breeze bothering no one!! Karoo Rider has a video of it turning nicely in the breeze.

Friday 24th June dawns bright and early as it does no where else like in Namibia. We have a longer day today to Klein-Aus Vista, the wide and flat Nam boulevard C12 follows after the scenic Gondwana Nature Park. Heavy traffic at the railway line (with it's lethal raised LHS track) prevents any hectic braking as you hit the track.
The Roadhouse has new Solar Panel shaded parking but we just stop for fuel today.

Each time I have been to the Naute Dam the water level is always about the same ... where does it all come from? The crossing has now been cemented so it's lethal off-line. Be warned. The local Chakma's have also left a detailed thought about that too ...

We stop off at the re-built Seeheim Hotel. Zirkie the owner tells us the ex-employee house keeper that burnt it down got 3 months ... and he was in court 16 times to defend assault charges for preventing a murder ... on himself by said female arsonist.

Water still in the Fishriver cause the new Necarthaldam just upstream from the bridge keeps over flowing.
Did you go taste gin at the gin distillery just below the Nautedam? The water for the Nautedam falls in the Karas mountains.
