Our recent trip to Namakwaland.
It was myself and my two nephews on Africa Twins, Twister on his 950SE and ETS on his 690 Ralle Replica. We trailored the bikes from Bloemfontein to Springbok.
The plan was to try and stay away from the main gravel roads and try and do as much as possible 2 spoor and single spoor tracks. Since it was our first trip to Namakwaland we were not exactly sure what to expect and was also not sure what tracks would be on private ground or not. So after spending many many hours on Google earth and consulting with a few fellow "Dogs" the route was planned and the day arrived.
The plan was as follows:
Day 1 Springbok to Hondeklipbaai          ( red )
Day 2 Hondeklipbaai to Kammieskroon  ( turquise )
Day 3 Kammieskroon to Lutzville            ( green )
Day 4 Lutzville to Garies                          ( yellow )
Day 5 Garies to Springbok                      ( blue )
Day 6 Springbok to Kleinsee and back to Springbok (green )

I will let the pictures tell the story.

Day 1  Springbok to Hondeklipbaai
At Buffelsrevier we turned off onto gravel and almost immediately we hit a lekke semi technical 2-spoor heading up a steep mountain. From there is was 2-spoor heaven all the way to Koingnaas where we refueled and from there to Hondeklipbaai. About 20km before Koingaas we hit a serious section of deep loose sand and that kept us busy for quit some time.

Despite all planning, everything looking like a road is not always that.  :)

Awesome area you guys chose.

I hope there is much more... :thumleft:

Standing by for the rest..

Day 2 Hondeklipbaai to Kammieskroon
Sommer immediately within the first few kilometres we hit deep deep sand. We struggled thru the sand for about an hour until we came to a locked gate. We first tried to ride along the fence to try and find an opening. Along the fence we went down a very very sandy downhill but could not find any opening in the fence, we had no choice and turned around but it was impossible to go up the sandy uphill and made our own path thru the veld. Now I must just explain that this veld is actually not veld but rather a very difficult sandy area full of Melkbos. We later discovered that the Melkbos made white stains on our bikes and it was very difficult to remove.

Losper spent months planning the routes! They were really really awesome- i was glad not to be on a big bike. Our riding companions were very nice guys- essential for a trip like this!!!
Namaqualand has more sand than the Sahara and more gates than the narrow road to heaven. Losper made sure we saw ALL the gates.

Day 3 Kammieskroon to Lutzville
We set off to the Namakwa National park coastal section.
We were told that we gonna encounter a lot of deep loose sand but boy o boy were we surprised. The sand was way deeper than what we anticipated and it kept us busy for some time.
