Got onto the right path down to the water and with directions from ADVWANNABE, I got to the water's edge, obviously to his delight.

THE SECOND SECTION OF THE RIDE WILL TAKE US BACK THE WAY WE CAME THEN PAST THE SEWEWEEKS TURN OFF STRAIGHT TO KOUEVELD PASS AND THEN TO LAINGSBURG.

It is gravel in good condition and the ears could be turned. Exhilarating to now and then, when you have unobstructed view and a well maintained gravel road, crank and drive at speeds well over the normal average. A different dimension of riding.

It is a quick stop and shop in Laingsburg and we get back on the gravel to Moordenaars Kaoo, just as you leave the town towards Cape Town. There is a lot of evidence of the rain that has been falling all over.

We definitely need advwannabe to post some photos of this section.

I was quite a long way ahead of him, when I came over the rise and the road was full of water. My photo would have shown a LOOOOOONG skid mark as I made the brakes work overtime. Did not hear the KTM behind me, so I walked the crossing to check the water level and any possible ruts. A farmer came from the other side in his bakkie and said that there were a few more. I asked him to warn Marc if he saw him along the road, which he did not do, except wave at Marc.

I, in the meantime packed a pile of rocks in the middle of the road to warn Marc. When he arrived, the rocks had worked in warning him, we decided to make a bit of a river crossing photo shoot of it.

There were a few more water crossings, nothing serious, except for some tail wags through the muddy areas.

We came upon the start of the stream of water which was to come as a result of the rain we saw in the distance. All this, I would presume, contributed to the flood torrent that Laingsburg subsequently experienced.

There was a lot of evidence of the amount of rain that must have fallen.

At Sutherland we find The Jupiter, home of Wilddog Hooglander (apparently his forum name was supposed to be the same as that of his establishment, but someone had inconsiderately taken it......... shame  :3some:  :pot:  :imaposer:), where we will sleep over. We can camp if we want to, but ablutions will be a problem. There is a double room available, but after my experience with a certain snoring buddy at Koedoeskloof, sharing the room is now a contentious subject. So, we decide that I will this time sleep inside and Marc will pitch his tent under the afdak, which is also the danskraal, I think.

All sorted.

We leave The Jupiter and stop at the filling station. Some bikers arrive and after some trip conversation, warn us about Ouberg Pass, our intended route out, as they apparently had a hard time getting up it, with quite a few spills.

Then we head to Sutherland's Groot Verkyker. We have the daylight tour and then it is to Ouberg Pass.

Right here, I can be heard saying "SHOOT (or something bodily functional similar) look at that view". It was spectacular, to say the least.

Marc took plenty photos as well and I really hope he is going to either post them whilst continuing with his very neglected RR or send them to me so that I can post them.......................... :pot:

I took plenty, but the memory card caused them to be corrupted, ............ well, that is what the experts say.

At this stage, Marc and I are having a conversation on the helmet comms. We expected the ride to be a lot more challenging, based on the chat we had with the other bikers earlier in the day. Cannot understand the spills, without being condescending, it is an exceptionally enjoyable ride and the views are spectacular. Maybe just some inexperience. There are some rough repaired areas, but nothing seriously challenging.

According to advwannabe, he could have done it side saddle, roaring up on the back wheel.....................The beast slayer.             :lol8:

Any comments here in this regard from any concerned fellow dogs, that may spur the man on to sharing his trip with us, will be greatly appreciated. The more controversial the better, asking nicely has fallen on deaf ears.
