Mark was listening to every moan and groan on our comms as I complained about my ribs. Pain killers were wearing out and I was not enjoying the riding.

And then it was beer-0-clock…..

I took some more pain killers for the stabbing pain in my side. Washed it down with a cold one. I felt dreadful, but wasn’t going to throw in the towel just yet.

Next up was a snotty little footpath crossing a planted field. The incline proved impossible in the slippery conditions and each and every bike had to be manhandled to a spot where traction reappeared….
