After reading an old RR and discussing it with a few other wilddogs we decided to attempt an entry to the Baviaans via a 4x4 route called Rust en Vrede.The aim was to make our way down to Kareedouw for a refuel then spent the night at Baviaans Lodge on the Friday night.Our plan was do the route on the Saturday morning planning to arrive at about lunchtime at Doornkloof campsite.Pitch tents then explore the Baviaans towards the Uniondale side Saturday afternoon with a leisurly ride back to PE via the conservation area on the Sunday morning.
I couple of guys we spoke to that had done the 4x4 route in cages said it was not really a route for the bigger bikes, especially bikes loaded with kit. We thought everything would be fine as the weather forecast said only light showers on the Sunday.
As we know things do not always go as planed. :imaposer:
We were in a slight rush leaving PE on the Friday morning so we did away with the pre-ride photos that one comes to expect in an RR.
