I've been riding in Death Valley usually twice a year for a few years now.  I usually go in the Fall and Spring when the temperatures aren't so hot.  This year I had 25 riders join.  We did probably four groups on two days and saw some really cool stuff.

I made some chili this time and that was a lot of fun to all have dinner together.  I also brought a bottle of Tequila and we put a GoPro on the bottle as people took shots.  That's fun!

Death Valley has a lot of old mining ghost towns from the Spanish colonial days all the way up to the 1940's or so.  It's all national park now; the largest one in the United States.

This one place we went Friday is called Saline Valley Hot Springs.  Two years ago it was nearly impassable.  53 miles of rutted, rocky washouts, deep sand, etc... is now so good you could drive a Prius there.  Lots of hot spring pools to dip yourself in.  Lots of old naked people too :(

It gets VERY hot here in the summer but was about 29 C in the day and 12 C at night when we were there.  The record high there is 56.7 C on July 10, 1913.  Apparently, a lot of German tourists love to go out there in the summer just to see how extreme it is.  Of course, it's also extremely dangerous to do that.

Here's a sad story about that...

Another interesting story about the "Ballarat Bandit:"

Death Valley, brings back memories

Very nice place to visit and has a certain alluring tendency about it. I have been fortunate to visit the place twice, once in 1996 after a trip to Sturgis, unfortunately it was in a car, but I was grateful for the Aircon given the extreme temps.

I managed to get back there in 2012 and did a trip from Vegas to Reno and back via Death Valley on 2 wheels with my oldman who rode down from Canada. Could have easily spent more time there, especially with a dirt bike, given the dirt road options. That heat is something you cant quite explain, especially down by Bad Water (Furnace Creek) Road temps are extreme and it's cooler (Not by much) when you stopped than when you riding due to the rising heat.

Nice pics and reports Fudgypup.

Fascinating place, my son and I did a ride thru Death Valley in May this year. Was like riding with a hair drier blowing into your face. 47 deg C in the shade ( except no shade )! Met some very interesting folks in particular a young lady riding solo on a grossly overloaded KLR650 , she was on her way down from Vancouver to Florida just for the fun of it. We stayed over at Furnace Creek , lovely Oasis in the middle of nowhere, then at Panamint springs where I see you also set up camp if I'm not mistaken. Best looking Waitress / Barmaid in the west according to my son.
Keep the ride reports comming makes me hungry for our next trip planned for Alaska if all works out well

Yes, Panamint Springs Resort wait staff's beauty is only surpassed by their collection of amazing craft beer!  My favorite is Alexis but there's the Russian blonde with the sassy attitude!  She lives over in Darwin, which has its own controversial documentary made about it... (controversial in that Darwin isn't really like the film)

Thanks for sharing... looks unique.

One when I'm big and ugly, would like to experience it...
