When I bought my DR650 it had a rear sprocket with one tooth less than standard, 41 teeth. The front sprocket was one tooth bigger, 15 teeth.
I was consistently getting 17 Kilos to the litre on fuel.
Last month I changed the rear sprocket back to original, 42 teeth. Ditto the front sprocket, which I changed from 15 teeth to 14 teeth.
Since then the bike is consistently getting 20 kilos to the litre. That is a massive saving in petrol money!
