Going over the concrete bridge just before Bainskloof Pass....we saw this damage to the railing. BTW.....that was not like that a few days earlier when I passed it. Whatever had caused this damage...could not have been good.

Shaun if you have some good photos of the fuel pump bypass operation, I could add them to my BMW tips page at https://gadgeteer.co.za/mybike/bmw-r1200gs-tips?

Well Guys & Gals,

Even though the original Planned 11 day Trip to Namibia NEVER worked out like I had hoped..... & turned out the way that it did..... I am just far more Grateful that I made it through that incident with only a soar left knee & a few bruises on my right arm. God had his hand over me & I was able to be here right now writing this RR.

Thank you all once again to everyone that gave me support & assistance. It truly is appreciated :notworthy: ;) ;D :thumleft:

I hope you all have enjoyed the journey you have taken with me, while reading through this RR. :ricky: :sip: ;)

I'd just like to say one more thing, regarding the "Bigger Dream" I now have & am looking even more forward to (as soon as I am in a position to do) of going to Namibia........

Bring It On :ricky: ;D ;D ;D

Unfortunately Buddy, I don't have any photos of the "operation".....Jaco & I were just to frustrated & busy @ the time....that the thought of filming it or taking photos....just never crossed my mind.

Thanks for sharing your awesome experience with all of us.

Just one question, what happened to the other close encounter?? Or did i miss it?? Something about when you were parked??? Or was that the fuel problem??

Great pics. Saving up for one of those Go Pro's!!

The point that "Gadgeteer" was referring to was w.r.t. me being damn luck to have that "fuel Pump" Break-Down happen there in good Cell phone reception. ;) :thumleft:

Thanks for that fantastic report. Brought back some good memories! Feel for you not being able to complete your trip! At least my KLR waits till we are a day out of JHB before demanding to be loaded on a trailer  :(
So glad you were ok!

Thanks Shawn Great RR. Do you perhaps have the coordinates for Cederberg oasis? You don't perhaps know how the road is between Wuppertal & Uitkyk pass. We're doing it end of August.  :thumleft:

Also need the co-ords! Thanks!

What a lekke RR and a good writer you are. :thumleft:

Tip: next time ride strait to the bash and then do Namibia after that. ;)

Imagine how long this report would have been had you done the full trip.  Great RR and thanx for letting us ride along!!!!

Here is the link to their website. https://www.cederbergoasis.co.za/ Their GPS co-ordinates are there too ;) :thumleft:

@ Ernst.... w.r.t. the road conditions of the roads in that area.....well @ the present moment & to the best of my knowledge, I can tell you that that road between the Oasis & Clanwilliam via Uitkyk Pass & Algeria is Gr8.....cause I just road that a little while back. Then w.r.t. the road towards Wuppertal when I last rode it (earlier in January) was also in a pretty good condition. They do & can however change condition pretty quick @ any given time....so it might be best to always check here on the Forum a few weeks before the time, whether any WD's have travelled there recently or even give Gerrit (Oasis) a call & ask him. He is always pretty clued up about the road conditions.

Who knows.....I amight even be available to go for a ride there too. :ricky: :peepwall: ;D ;D
