There is one final surprise in the form of a step up near the top of the climb, but proper traction and momentum makes it a non- event.

Meeste ouens se fietse het volle sticker kit op en die res soos spieeltjie kry maar die krappe. Bos is hard op die fietse. Met die 790 nogsteeds buite aksie het ek ongelukkig nie ander opsie gehad as HP2 nie. Ek het baie plekke draai gery om bosse en krappe te vermy!
 
We could hear Wiaan was having a tough time coming up with the 1090 stalling several times. Colin walked down to give him a hand and arrived on top a very tired man.

We spent a bit of time admiring the view before Mark guided us down the descent.

Now I am glad I asked. So some care is taken, its easy to assume sometimes that some are just immune or something.


tip for the 1090: dont use sport mode for technical riding and change your gearing, it really helps. I never struggled much with stalling (okay, the clutch is also as solid as they come)

In Wiaan’s case on the 1090 I think it was just pure exhaustion and dehydration after a very demanding day of riding. He is a very skilled rider but had a horrid day.
 
Towards the end of the descent one needs to make a 90degree turn off camber to safely get off the rock. It looked very intimidating but again the traction on the rock makes it quite easy in the end......

I was nervous to join the ride on the HP2. Worried about damaging it and unsure of how it would fair on this challenging route. It behaved flawlessly and I’m even more in love with it than before. It was super stable in the sand and the boxer motor just idles over and through any obstacle. The re-worked forks and air shock at the back performed very well.
