I spent some time next to the track waiting for the rest of the guys. Apparently this landscape is usually a red barren area and we were very lucky to see it covered in grass

I think it was just over 2000km? Haven't checked yet. I replaced my airfilter on the rest day, but to be honest the one I replaced hardly had any dust on it at all and air box was squeeky clean.
I will do an oil change when the bike is back in Nelspruit and check the air filter again.

The idea was to regroup on a hill overlooking the Khumib. It was a great vantage point to view the beauty of the landscape and you could also hear and see the other riders approaching from a distance. Hardy and the sweepers were going quite slow as they were riding behind Barry who had decided to ride again, not realising just how much sand he would encounter..... eepwall:


We were treated to coffee and rusks and Chantall promised next time there will be cheese cake.

Getting ready to start moving again

Soon we were back in the river and Dwerg and I sticked together. I was constantly looking over my shoulder to make sure he was not lagging behind, but he was on my shoulder, making the DR dance in the thick sand. It was hot, it was tiring and we were having the time of our lifes!

The DR started spluttering in the first riverbed section after Noneking shot away. I just though ‘oh god not another one’. I got out of the river and onto a main road but quickly saw that I was heading in the wrong direction and got back into the river in the hope of the support vehicle passing. Eventually figured out that we hadn’t put enough fuel in the previous evening and after switching to reserve, the DR ran perfectly again [emoji23]

What a stunning RR. Baie dankie aan almal wat insette gee. Dit is so lekker om weer daai roetes saam met julle te ry. Ek het in Windhoek groot geword en ek en my Pa het daai area plat gery.
Kan nog die Koringkrieke goed onthou, in die winter as die son die spoorlyne warm gebak het en dit in die aande koud word klim hulle op die spoorlyne om warm te bly.

Now I know that I've been saying this about every day of the trip so far, but this day just kept on getting better! It was visual overload around every corner and over every crest. To my utter disgust, I ran out battery on my camera and had switch to my iPhone, which takes ok-ish pics but really doesn't capture all the detail. Luckily there are a few of [member=12174]JannievandieVaaldam[/member] and Willies pics to share as well.

Every time Dwerg and I stopped next to each other, we were in total awe and soon  ran out of expletives
